Welcome back, sweet friends! This may be the shortest trip report I've ever put together. I took fewer pics as we spent much of the day relaxing and relishing the atmosphere of the resort and parks we visited. I do have enough to capture this Disney day though, and I'm looking forward to preserving those memories and sharing them with you now.
Day 8 - Sunday, October 16, 2022
Good morning from our balcony at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! On this sweet mid-October Sunday morn my heart was happy to be sitting beside my hubby while the resort and I were both dressed in his favorite color. It's the little things!
I loved the view before me and beside me!
Just because I love a portrait of my fave man on the planet!
My firstborn sweetie sitting pretty in our room in front of a wonderful watercolor of Lilo, Nani, and Stitch.
After a lovely, leisurely morning at the resort we headed to Animal Kingdom for lunch.

While looking through menus on Disney's app a Korean fried chicken sandwich topped with kimchi slaw and honey heat sauce at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe caught my eye. Everyone else found things they'd like there too, so off to the Yak & Yeti quick service restaurant we went.
She made a fine feathered friend while saving a table as the other half of our fam ordered lunch.
The girls each got American Kobe Cheeseburgers and Jason went with their Teriyaki Chicken Salad.
The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich was alright, but frankly, forgettable. While I won't go out of my way to order it again, it was nice to try something new-to-me in the parks.
In all honesty the only reason we visited Animal Kingdom on this particular day was because we had an AK park reservation. Under the current reservation system, you have to visit the park you have reserved before you can park hop to any other park. We didn't hit any rides this visit, we simply enjoyed lunch, took in the atmosphere, then headed out.
Two hours after departing the Poly, we returned to the resort where we'd relax for a couple more hours before our evening at Epcot.
First, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, followed by imaginative fun with our friend Figment.
"With F-I-G-M-E-N-T, you can see things differently!"
Before we knew it it was dinnertime! Jason, our oldest, and I decided we'd like Japanese from Katsura Grill. My littlest love thought barbecue sounded better. I placed a mobile order for her at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the America pavilion and the two of us headed there while Jason and our oldest made their way to Japan to order dinner.
Her review was, "Dad's smoked meat is better." Jason's smoked scrumptiousness makes for stiff competition for any BBQ spot though! :D
One of my favorite things about eating at Katsura Grill is the outdoor atmosphere. It's a lovely space and we've never had any trouble finding a free table there, tucked away from the bustle of World Showcase.
Chicken and beef teriyaki served with steamed rice and mixed vegetables
Tip: Always take advantage of free ice water at Disney quick service restaurants. It helps save money on beverages and lessens the likelihood of getting sick from dehydration. I've been there, done that on a previous trip. Please learn from my lesson! :)
Before departing the Japan pavilion we popped into our beloved Mitsukoshi shop and picked up a couple sweet treats to go. We tried and enjoyed a piece of chocolate almond crush Pocky right away. How could we resist? ;)
The sight of Spaceship Earth lit up for the 50th anniversary makes exiting the park a complete delight!
A monorail ride later we were back to our home sweet vacation home.
We had a fun finale planned for this evening. We headed straight to the beach in anticipation of watching the Electric Water Pageant. While Jason and I secured seats with a view, the girls made a beeline for Pineapple Lanai, Poly's cute quick service counter where guests can order a variety of Dole whip delights. They came back just before showtime with Dole whips and Dole whip floats.
This blurry photo brings back sweet memories of a fantastic night! I savored each sip and spoonful of this float beneath the stars. We lingered here long after the pageant had floated on and all the other guests cleared from the beach. We chatted and laughed the night away before our beds beaconed us back for some beauty sleep. We'd need a full night of rest, because tomorrow would be an extra special day, my youngest would be turning 18! We'd celebrate the best way we know how, making all her Disney dreams come true! I hope you'll return to hear all about it in my next trip report. It's going to be a magical one! :D
Thanks so much for stopping by! See ya real soon!
