Last week we enjoyed a virtual vacation at Tokyo Disneyland in celebration of their 31st anniversary. This week let's visit their companion park, Tokyo DisneySea! Its stunning atmosphere and unique attractions have this park at the top of my travel wish list!
At Tokyo Disneyland's 5th anniversary in 1988, Mr. Masatomo Takahashi announced plans for a second Disney theme park in Tokyo. Plans for this park changed over the years that followed. At first they considered creating a park very much like WDW's Disney-MGM Studios, to be called "Disney Hollywood Studio Theme Park at Tokyo Disneyland". They eventually settled on the idea of a "seven seas" based park in 1992. They hoped to create a completely different experience from Tokyo Disneyland, and I think they achieved that goal masterfully! Tokyo DisneySea opened on September 4, 2001, eighteen years after Tokyo Disneyland. The park is barely into its teens, fresh, and overflowing with magic! Let's check it out today, friends!

A few weeks after my high school graduation, I spent time in half a dozen countries throughout Europe. Venice, Italy was hands down my favorite city! It's no surprise that I swoon over the Mediterranean Harbor section of Tokyo DisneySea! Disney magic with Italian influence? Be still my heart!

Snack time! Tokyo Disney resorts are known to create some very unique popcorn flavors! In DisneySea's American Waterfront they sell Apple Cinnamon Popcorn which I hear is like apple pie in popcorn form! Mmm! Other popcorn carts at this park sell Sea Salt, Curry, and Strawberry Popcorn. I found a flavorful review at D&G Do Food. Check out what they thought of DisneySea's offerings, as well as Tokyo Disneyland's Soy Sauce & Butter, Honey, & Caramel varieties! Sounds like a vacation for your taste buds to me! I'd love to go on a "Tokyo Disney Popcorn Crawl" and try each! Are you in? ;)

Instead of The Magic Carpets of Aladdin we know from Magic Kingdom, at DisneySea guests enjoy Jasmine's Flying Carpets. A little more luxurious, and sans the spitting camel.

Time to Dine Disney!
A bite to eat, and a visual treat!
I hear that dishes here are delivered by flying carpets from various parts of the kingdom! ;)

I'd like to try a special combo offered during the spring event, "Spring Voyage". It includes curry rice, tandoori chicken, and naan. The dessert of "Duffy" maple pudding with raspberry sauce is super cute, and I can't get over how adorable the chocolate genie lamp is!

Another great option for counter service would be Vulcania Restaurant! Inside a Mysterious Island cavern, the Vulcania Restaurant not only serves Nemo's hard working crew, they also welcome visitors like us! Let's check out this "buffeteria"...

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - what an amazing place!! I honestly don't think I'd even heard of it before!! I definitely think they should bring cinnamon apple popcorn to the US! I'm really hoping Florida builds a new park soon, it's so cool to see what Disney has done more recently!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is this?! And breathtakingly beautiful!! SO COOL! Thanks for sharing, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteAlso...I got the SWEETEST card in my mailbox yesterday that made my heart sing.

Oh my gosh I want to go! That park looks amazing! And mermaid land?! The little mermaid is my all time favorite Disney movie!! I wish we had DisneySea in Florida!!
ReplyDeleteWow....it looks amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteNow that is what I'm talking about! I'm glad they went with a unique park instead of copying one from the states. How cool does that look? I didn't even know about it, but now I want to go. And, I really want popcorn too.
