Happy Tuesday, friends! I'm so excited to take you along to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park and out for an amazing dinner at the beautiful Wilderness Lodge {via this trip report} ...all that and more on TRT Day 10 {of 17}!
Day 10 - Saturday, September 28, 2013
Jason and Little One woke up bright and early on this Saturday morn and enjoyed a pretty exciting Daddy/Daughter fishing trip! {Right there at our resort, Port Orleans Riverside on Ol' Man Island. Cane pole fishing, no license needed, cost only $4/30 minutes!}
Can you see that proud smile on her face? Priceless!
Then it was time for us to hop on a Disney bus and head over to Typhoon Lagoon for a day of fun in the sun!
A Sweet Start to the Day!
Time to dry off and head back to our resort to freshen up for dinner.
Wanna check out the Shark Reef? Let's!
Water Slide Fun Straight Ahead!
You can tell how much fun this water side is from Jason's laugh & Little One's question at the end of the video!
Being lazy has never been more fun than at Castaway Creek {Lazy River}!
Gangplank Falls!
This 4-person waterside is SO MUCH FUN! I think we can squeeze you in for a ride too if you'd like to join us! ;) ...
Surf Pool
Catch a wave and you're sitting on top of the world!
Deliciousness with a Cherry on Top!
You've gotta grab one of these Sand Pail sundaes and share the goodness with those you love! It's super yummy and a decent value too! Little One obviously agreed. While we were savoring the sweetness and watching the world float by, she exclaimed, "I can't believe this was only $10! A shovel, a pail, AND it had ice cream in it too!" Talk about making your money stretch at WDW! Ha! :) It was plenty for the four of us, and helped create a pretty cute sand castle afterward too! I highly recommend you hop off Castaway Creek {lazy river} at Happy Landings and enjoy one during your next visit to Typhoon Lagoon too!

Disney's Wilderness Lodge
We had reservations at Whispering Canyon Cafe that night so we made our first {ever} visit to Wilderness Lodge. It was absolutely beautiful!
Check out this magnificent lobby!...
The grand fireplace is breathtaking! {After dinner we rocked and talked in those beautiful rocking chairs. Yes, I have a thing about relaxing in rocking chairs throughout Disney property! ;)}
Exploring the Wilderness
I loved this place! The name of the restaurant is quite misleading {which we knew about}, and makes it that much more fun! Whispering Canyon Cafe could not be more loud! It is bustling with noise and just the kinda fun atmosphere that makes it a "must try"! Jason could not wait to dine here and have our shy Princess ask for ketchup. I won't spoil the surprise, but make sure you have some when you visit! ;)
We didn't realize that there were any tables located outside of the main dining room, and we ended up seated in the quiet corner of a deck located just outside the doors of the main dining area. I thought to myself, "What a lovely, peaceful, cozy spot!" Jason was disappointed though as he had made the reservation because he wanted to be in the middle of all the loud fun and excitement that he'd heard takes place in the restaurant. I suggested we ask if there were room available in the main dining area, but he said it was fine. {We will return and be sure to request being seated in the main dining room next time. ;)}
Our server was fantastic! She was sweet, funny, and attentive. Feast your eyes on the scrumptiousness she brought to our table!
We ordered the Build-Your-Own {All-You-Care-To-Enjoy} Family Platter. You can start with any three of the following: Kansas City-style Smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecue Pulled Pork, Herb-baked Chicken, Hand-carved Oak-roasted Beef Strip Loin, Citrus-crusted Market Fish, Western-style Sausage *Menu subject to change
Sharable Sides included: Seasonal Farm Fresh Vegetables, Herb-crusted Yukon Gold Potatoes, Cowboy-style Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob. Little One chose the Multigrain Grilled Cheese Dipper {which was on "goldfish" bread - so cute!}, and ordered sliced apples and fries as her sides.
We have so much fun together! Love my family!
Shopping at the Mercantile
This girl wears many hats. ;)
A "Sweet" Conclusion to the Night
Being there during the free dining promotion, our meals included dessert. We were really full after dinner, so we opted to order several different sweet treats to take back to our room and share later.
I can't resist snapping pics of my Lovey, especially when he's talking to me ...which makes him act goofy, which is then captured & hilarious to me personally. ;) Here he was trying to decide which dessert to taste test first. Each of them were fantastic! Little One couldn't wait for me to finish photographing the other desserts to start eating her fruit! She enjoyed every last bit of it though, while in a "Royal" bed ...this is what vacation tastes like! Delectable to the last bite!

ReplyDeleteY'all have to stay at Wilderness Lodge! It's our home resort for DVC and we absolutely loved it!!
ReplyDeleteI loooove Disney water parks! We usually go to Blizzard Beach because I had a bad experience scraping my knee (still have the scar!!) when I was like 7 in the wave pool. Also, I'm wondering if maybe we were there around the same time (I feel like my question will be answered as I keep reading back ;) ) but we were there for the Food and Wine Festival in November!!
ReplyDeleteNOW I'm craving a mini doughnut and a sand pail :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea for the sand pale with the ice cream. My mouth watered just looking at it. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge once. It was lots of fun and the food was great.
