Happy Friday, lovelies! *Warning* This post is very food heavy! It's been a treat of a week! I need to dash off to scroll through my Delicious Ways to Shrink pinboard & make a lighter grocery list for next week ...but first, I'll share five things that have made my heart happy since this time last week!
1. Frowns Turned Upside Down!
You know how things don't always go as planned? That's how Saturday went here. Princess and Little One had been counting down to that day for weeks! Dear family friends {who live a lit'l ways from us, so we don't see each other that often} had planned to come pick up our girls for a sleepover. The next day my parents, Jason, & I were to drive out to their place for a belated Christmas celebration and would then take our girlies back home with us. Sadly, I got a text Saturday morning that their youngest had the stomach flu. Such a bummer, most of all for our sweet lit'l ill friend, and secondly for my daughters who had suitcases ready by the door and had their hearts set on a sleepover. My heart broke for them. Grandparents to the rescue! When I called my mom to let her know the Christmas party was cancelled, she returned the call with one that welcomed our sweeties for a sleepover at their house. On a moments notice my parents turned the girlies' frowns upside down! They took them out for dinner and then back to their place for a night of fun!
Little One brought over the Spring Edition of her YUM Food and Fun for Kids magazine to show Grandma Kathy. They decided to create their own sweet version of a recipe that caught their eye.
Chocolate Chip Muffins with icing, sprinkles, and a star cookie on top, in floral cupcake liners
...I'd never seen such dolled up muffins!
*Bonus! Their sleepover allowed for . . .
2. Date night = GREAT night!
We ordered takeout from one of our fave barbecue restaurants and rented Iron Man 3! LOVED BOTH!!
{We managed to make this last for a Sunday lunch too ... every last bite was amazzzing!}
+
Tony Stark: Jarvis, how are we?
Jarvis: It's totally fine, sir. I seem to do quite well for a stretch and then at the end of the sentence I say the wrong cranberry.
... I laughed so cranberry!! ;) LOL! Maybe, you had to be there! :)
3. Record Breaking Day!
Sunday's temp broke a 119-year old record! The last time it even hit 60 degrees {in our area} on that day was January 19, 1895! It was GLORIOUS! We enjoyed a lovely family walk across the pedestrian bridge and talked about all our dreams of outdoor recreation this coming spring and summer. The thermometer dipped back down into the negatives later this week, but boy, did we enjoy that moment in the sun!
Praising God for that unusually gorgeous day OUTside together as a family!
*PS: I promise I was there! I'm the one snapping the pics. ;)

4. He looooves me!
I texted Jason asking if he could stop by the store on his lunch break and pick up a few things {boring undelicious things like toilet paper, laundry detergent, ect.} ...and he came home with these just for me!
Mr. Goodbar is my favorite candy bar and can't always be found, but he found it in XL! What?! The sharper the better when it comes to cheddar. He so gets me! ;) It took some major self control to make these yummies last a while! ... My hubby is the sweetest!!
Then...

Tuesday night he came home from work with the surprise of {FREE} Runzas {as it was -4 degrees at 6am that day} ...and I'm telling you, it really is the little things that still make my heart skip a beat for this man. As our drinks sat on the counter, I reached to put a straw in the second cup {assuming that was mine} he stopped me, "What are you doing?" and passed me the one he had just put a straw in, adding, "You first." Then he hopped on Netflix and made me smile again.
...Yep, we're nerdy like that. ;)
Praise God for the blessing of such a loving hubby who cares for me in the big and small ways!
5. Cutesies for my {Freeezing Co-Co-COLD} Tootsies!
When the temp dips down into the negatives cute 'n cozy socks cheer me so! ...Simple pleasures! ;)
