Creating memories with family is the icing on the cake whipped cream atop the pumpkin pie of Thanksgiving! Today I'm excited to share a simple recipe for family fun, with a side of memories that'll last for years to come!
Supplies:
Mason Jar
Googly Eyes
Paint Swatches
Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue Gun + Glue Stick
Steps to Festive Fun:
Cut paint swatches to create turkey feathers.
Use hot glue to attach "feathers" to the Mason jar lid.
Give that bird some googly eyes! Just a dab of glue will do.
Snip a lit'l beak out of orange paper and glue for gobbling goodness.
Now for the best part, the STUFFING!
Cut construction paper into strips. Divide them up between your family. Have everyone write down things they are thankful for. Roll them up into scrolls and stuff that turkey!
On Thanksgiving Day {between Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade commercial breaks or later around the dinner table} open the jar, read and reflect on all the things your family has to be thankful!
This also makes a great keepsake! Add a date to the back of one of the feathers and store with your holiday decorations. You may wanna tuck a few tissues inside too! Looking back at your kids' handwriting as they (mis)spell out how thankful they are for {insert all the cute things that are most precious to them during this season in life} may be a tearjerker later, and will most definitely bless your heart!
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
