Happy Friday, lovelies! {My "5 Loves on Friday" series is officially back! YAY!} It's been such a fun and festive week!! Can't wait to share what our lit'l family has been up to!
Little One tested for and received her taekwondo red belt! She's also officially the newest member of her taekwondo school's leadership program, after being nominated by her instructors. We are so proud of her! Our girl is small, but mighty!
Her black belt is now there and ready to be earned! All of her hard work is paying off. She's getting so close! Have I mentioned how proud we are?!
2. We enjoyed another gourd-gous day at the pumpkin patch!
Each October the girls and I spend our Mondays at the pumpkin patch with one of my oldest friends and her adorable daughter. Thankful for the fun new fall memories created together this Halloween season!
3. Date Night = GREAT night!
My in-laws had the girls spend 2 nights with them this week. This was a blessing for all involved! The girls enjoyed a sweet time creating memories with Grandma & Grandpa, and their cute cousins! Hubby and I savored some rare "just the two of us" time! Good times were had by all!
4. Feature Fun!
A big "THANK YOU!" to Christie of Food Done Light for featuring my DIY Mickey Mouse Glow Necklaces at Thursdays Treasures!
5. Last but certainly not least, the highlight of the week, Halloween 2013!
We enjoyed celebrating every bit of this "sweet" holiday! Our day began with crafts and a spooktacular lunch at my mom's daycare Halloween party. Immediately followed by an afternoon surrounded in Autumn Kisses {aka: a TON of leaves in our front yard}.
Can you spot the Hidden Mickey?
We spent a few hours filling pumpkin bags with the crisp golden leaves that our tree had waved goodbye to this week. Princess discovered how much she enjoyed raking. Who knew yard work could be so fun! Little One used her creativity to craft a Disney masterpiece, joyfully jumped into each leaf pile, and made "leaf angels". (Why wait for snow?) At the end of the afternoon we had a half a dozen grim grinning ghosts jack-o-lanterns full, and had worked up an appetite! We quickly satisfied those tummy grumblings with Halloween cookies while crafting a few holiday gifts.
Top: Princess crafting away. Bottom left: my Aunt Ednah, Princess, Little One, and my parents. Bottom right: my cousin Emily & her hubby Brandon (joining us for the first time on Halloween night, so fun!) with the girls and their cards.
When the clock struck 5 it was time for our traditional Halloween feast at my parents' house! For the past 30+ years my mom has prepared a chili dinner and set up a toppings bar for us to craft chili cheese dogs with the works. Mmm...the taste of Halloween by the messy mouthful! This was quickly followed by, of course, trick-or-treating!
My hubby and I had taken the girls about 8 blocks when Ariel said her nose was soooo cold it hurt, so she and I headed back to my parents' place (where I maaaay have had seconds on the chili cheese dog deliciousness), and Jason and R2D2 went on trick-or-treating another 4 blocks ... which is nice because she shares her treats with us! Little One on the other hand opened a candy shoppe in our living room and offered to sell me her Almond Joy candy bars (as she is allergic to coconut) - ha! Oh well, my waist line won't pay for it, if I have to pay for it. ;)
From start to finish, it was a super fun Halloween! Am I the only one who can't believe it's already over though? ... Bring on the turkey and the mistletoe!
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Hooray for your little girl getting her red belt! My sisters BF is a 3rd degree Black Belt and he keeps saying that he wants my son to do TaeKwonDo when he is old enough.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at her enterprise when it comes to selling unwanted candy to her parents. Sounds like the kind of thing my siblings and I would always do after parades when we were growing up!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on the red belt that is so awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the glow necklaces u rock mom!
I love getting to know you and your family through this post Brenda! Congrats to the Little One!! Both of my sons took Tae Kwon Do and I think it teaches so many good things (and gets them off the couch!!). Thank you for sharing this at the party this week! I am featuring it on my Facebook page and have pinned it to the You're Gonna Love It board on Pinterest :-)
